Since the lockdown restrictions started to ease, all we crave are beautiful Delhi nights, where great food and great company go hand in hand! Although the pandemic has deprived the capital of its nightlife, the city’s food industry is bringing it back in force! Recently, I was invited to Prego at Westin Gurgaon, an Italian fine dining restaurant, to try their new menu specially designed by expatriate Italian chef Reno Serra. So if you are looking to try authentic Italian food in Delhi NCR then I recommend Prego as the place for you.
The Westin team planned a 6-course sit-down meal with the who’s who of the city and the food was par excellence! The pleasant cold evening was the perfect backdrop for the serene outdoor event. With lanterns hanging from the trees and beautiful floral decorations throughout the courtyard, I was captivated by the beautiful decor of the restaurant. Upon entering, I was greeted with the first course of the meal, the appetizers. I tried the Italian classics – tomato bruschetta, Parma ham and melon, artichoke and mint bruschetta, cheese and focaccia and squid frito misto.

Once all the guests were seated at the table, we were served the evening aperitif (main course) – smoked salmon carpaccio with fresh goat cheese and winter greens. For the third course of the meal, we were served cream parmesan soup and it was as cheesy and delicious as it sounds! After that, we tasted the potato gnocchi with portobello, oysters, shimji mushroom sauce. The gnocchi were so chewy they melted in my mouth. Then came the main course with breaded lamb chops, potatoes with olives and leafy greens; the meat was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside! Last, but not least, was the cinnamon apple baked in puff pastry served with ice cream for dessert.

After a lot of food and great conversations, I have come to the delicious conclusion that Prego is one of the best places in town for a heartwarming night out with friends and family. Going to Prego has given me back confidence in the city’s potential to provide a wonderful evening that goes beyond delicious food.
