Take it from a born and raised Italian like me: every pizza fan in Italy has heard of Naples’ L’antica Pizzeria da Michele at least once, and the lucky ones (including me) even got to try it. . Now New Yorkers are next on the list.
Antica Pizzeria da Michele officially opens in the Big Apple and will begin welcoming hungry pizza lovers as early as October. This will be the restaurant’s second US location, which made its US debut in 2019 when it opened a pizzeria in the heart of Hollywood in Los Angeles.
Carrying 152 years of tradition on its shoulders, L’antica Pizzeria da Michele will bring its authentic Neapolitan pizza recipe to a huge West Village location. Spanning 6,000 square feet, the new restaurant in New York will be equipped with three different dining rooms, including a wine room featuring Italian wines from Italy’s top producers.
Guests will have the chance to marvel at the pizza-making process from the comfort of their seats. The tables will have a direct view of the kitchen, where executive chef Michele Rubini, born and trained in Naples, will bring the menu to life. In addition to the restaurant’s famous Neapolitan pizza recipe, the menu will include a selection of homemade pasta dishes passed down from generation to generation.
Antica Pizzeria da Michele New York will be open daily at 2 Bank Street. For more information, you can visit the restaurant’s website or follow L’antica Pizzeria da Michele NYC on Instagram @damichelenyc.
